The AM100 Array Microphone has 8 microphones electronically configured in an array that is only 18 inches long. It has been specially designed for voice-controlled home automation. It allows you to walk around the room and speak to your home automation system in a normal voice. The microphone works equally well in home automation applications and desktop computer command and control. The microphone array will track your voice any where in the room. At the same time, it has special noise canceling circuitry that eliminates background noise. This improves overall signal quality and offers superior speech recognition.

The Voice-Tracking Array Microphone is built from a string of microphones that are connected together through sophisticated signal processing circuitry that adds up the speech component from each microphone while canceling the noise component. The Voice-Tracking locates the talker and electronically listens only to that location, even if it is significantly off axis. The microphone can focus very tightly on the talker, spatially filtering noise from other sources. The higher signal to noise ratio that results also enables the talker to be farther away from the microphone, than with a single microphone.

The AM100 Voice-Tracking Array Microphone employs Location Dependent Squelch (LDS™, Patent Pending) which de-sensitizes the microphone to unwanted sounds coming from directions outside its field of view.
