The Remote Video System uses the same cameras as the Home Video System, however, it is designed to run these cameras in remote locations and vacation homes. Recording video in remote locations takes a lot of computer power and disk space. The Remote Video System was designed for this environment.
Our "Nomad" remote home automation computer will run your home automation network, turn your lights on and off, and adjust your temperature. Our Remote Video processor will handle your wireless video cameras. We looked for a system that you could lock in a closet, like "The Nomad," was low power, low heat, and would allow you to record video, and view your video over the Internet.
This embedded video processor is a low power surveillance system in a stylish aluminum case. It has the performance of a full scale computer, and is specifically designed to be used with wireless cameras. It will support up to 8 cameras.

How this device works: The Remote Video System is robust and was originally designed for commercial applications that require recording one or more network cameras continuously and simultaneoulsy. Surveillance cameras are connected via the network, or directly to Internet. The Remote Video System captures, compresses, and stores video from the wireless cameras. Also, it provides access to the cameras video, and to the recorded video from the Internet. You can playback recorded video, control wireless pan/tilt/zoom cameras, detect motion, and trigger recording and notification by e-mail or text messaging.

All necessary software pre-installed
Because of the unique needs of each remote location, we did not include a camera with this starter kit. This system works well with any of the add-on cameras.
The software allows you to create a motion detector for any of your cameras. This is done by eliminating areas of the camera view where you don't want to detect motion. Areas like waving tree branches might be eliminated in favor of a part of the driveway without tree branches to prevent false alarms.
