This screw-in switch can be used for lighting indoors, outdoors, or in damp locations.
It can be controlled from your computer to be turned on and off by different events, like sunrise, and sunset.
Since it is an On-Off type of switch it can use both the older incandescent bulbs, the newer flourescent bulbs, and spotlights.

This switch works fine. We have been running this switch in our home now for over a year without amy problems.

We have some words of caution when ordering this switch. This is a wide switch at 3 inches. If you are thinking about putting this in a lamp that has a lamp shade supported by a "hoop," it will not fit into the lamp. If you force the screw-in switch down in the socket, it will probably bend your hoop, and will not make contact with the lamp. We recommend, instead, that you automate your lamp with an On-Off Plug-In switch (LPB450) at the wall socket.

If you have an outdoor light with a metal cover around it, again, this Screw-In may be too wide for the metal cover.

One other concern is that this will raise your light bulb about 2.5" higher than its current position. So if you use this switch in an upright standing lamp with a glass bowl shade, the bulb may stick above the shade depending on the height of your glass shade.

Having said all this, we do not want to discourage you from using this switch, it is reliable. Where we use it is in our upside down hanging tiffany kitchen lamp, and in out bare bulb garage ceiling lights.
