We do not recommend using different protocol devices together. The software will do it, but the devices all work and respond differently, and the interfaces are different. We have analyzed and tested the various technologies avaiable for home automation, and came away with Z-Wave as the protocol we prefer. We recommend Z-Wave specific Home Automation products on this site, because of their superior and consistent performance, and robustness over time. That's why all the products you purchase from Refined Automation work together in a smooth, easy-to-install, wireless Home Automation System.

The HomeSeer HS2 software provided with our smaller systems is the smaller brother to the HSPRO software we have listed here. You'll find the HS2 Home Automation control software gives you all the basic Home Automation functionality and features that it's big brother HomeSeer HSPRO has. The difference between the two versions is HomeSeer add-on modules are included for free with HSPRO. All these same modules work with the HS2, but you'll find there is an additional charge for each module with the HS2 version of the software.

When we say the HomeSeer HSPRO software supports a technology or home automation device, that functionality or product may still require additional software drivers, or hardware to be functional in your home automation system. The HSPRO software is getting to be an industry standard, and there are a lot of third party manufactures that have created their own products to interface with HSPRO. These products usually have an extra charge associated with them. One of the reasons HSPRO is our preferred software is there is a lot of extra functionality included with the software at no extra charge to you.
