The "Panic Tag", or what we will call the "Alert Tag", does just what the name says, it alerts you when the tag goes out of range. If your child wanders off in a crowded shopping mall, and goes a defined distance from the Locator Plus in your purse, the Locator Plus will vibrate and make an audible alarm. You can then can go to Locate Mode, and track down your errant child.

There's one other plus to the Alert Tag. It has a "Panic Button." If your child gets scared, and loses you in a crowded place, she can press the Panic Button on her Alert Tag, and the Locator Plus in your purse will alarm to let you know that your child is looking for you. No more lost children or teenagers.

The Alert Tag, with its distance Alert and "Panic Button," only works with the Locator Plus, and only when the Locator Plus is in Alert Mode. In Alert Mode, the Locator Plus constantly sends a signal back and forth to its Alert Tags to see how far away the tags are, and if any "Panic Buttons" has been pressed.

The Alert Tag acts as both a Locator tag and an Alert tag. When you are in Locate Mode on your Locator Plus, the Alert Tag will make a sound, and an LED Light will blink on the tag to help you find the tag quicker.

The tags are not waterproof or water resistant. If you believe that they might get wet, you can seal them in a plastic baggie, or with a little clear silicon like you use around your bathroom tub, and they will work just fine. We recommend this for when your at the beach, and want to keep track of your kids who are in and out of the water.

Range is highly variable. The 600 feet maximum range is based on clear line of sight from the Loc8tor Plus to the Tag. The radio signal goes through clothes, plants, trees, walls, and floors easily, a metal shield might be a bit of a problem. The range will vary depending on your use, and the environment at your location.

In Alert mode, the Alert Tags and Locator Plus are constantly transmitting to each other to inform you as soon as an Alert Tag goes out of the determined safety zone. The batteries will last approximately 2 months in constant Alert mode. The Locator Plus will warn you if any batteries need to be replaced.

A disclaimer from the manufacturer. "Loc8tor mode has been designed to help find your possessions. It should not be relied on to find people." Finding something that is moving around is a bit harder, than something that is stationary.
