home automation computer|cooler This product is one of those "good ideas," that turned into a product. How many of you have an equipment stack of TIVO, cable box, router, receivers and DVD players all stacked one on top of the other. All these components seem to have vent holes in the top to get rid of the heat. You put your hand on the top of the stack, and it's hot.

In the back of your mind, you think, that heat has to go up through the entire stack... what if the component at the top of the stack is too hot? Worse, do you have the stack in a glass enclosed cabinet that has limited ventilation? The heat gives you a slight nagging stress level that has you constantly on the look out that the kids don't cover up the holes in the top of the equipment with notebooks or papers. Let's lower your stress level a bit.

Enter the Stack Cooler,... it has a unique design. The idea is to place the plate on "top" of your hottest component, and then stack your next component right on top of the cooling plate. Let the two fans in the stack cooler keep your hottest component cool, and shoot the heat out the back of the stack, while preventing heat from rising to any other equipment you choose to stack on top of the Stack Cooler. The Stack Cooler is made with an attractive, and sturdy carbon-glass frame. There are two, two, two-speed fans on the bottom of the plate that suck the heat up through the top of the equipment, and shoot it out the back of the Stack Cooler, away from the stack. The result is the overall stack is cooler, your equipment is happier, has a longer life, and you have a little more peace of mind.

The top of this cooler has a very attractive dark grey brushed aluminum plate. On the bottom, are two fans beneath their metal cages. We all know that heat is the enemy of electronics, and any means to get rid of the excess heat will increase the lifespan of the device. The Stack Cooler does this efficiently and quietly. The Stack Cooler, designed to be set on top of your hottest media component uses two 2-speed 80mm fans that pulls the hot air up, and blows it away from the heat source through the rear vents. The Stack Cooler is extremely quiet, ranging from 22.5dBA when fans are set to low and 28.7dBA when set to high. The front power switch, which is the only part of this cooler you will interact with, has a wide blue LED so you can tell when the cooler is on, since it’s so quiet. Also on the front is a switch with three positions. The left (L) being the low setting, middle (O) being the off position, and right (H) as the high setting. Finally, the rear features the power input and two air out-takes. The power adapter, included with "The Cooler," can be used on a power strip or in a wall without blocking any unused sockets. This is a plus, as this cooler will be in your home theater, where you can never have enough sockets.

Just so there is no confusion, this is a stand alone product and is not controlled with your home automation computer.

The Stack Cooler isn't ideal for all components, it's dimensions of 16.9 x 14.2 inches means it was made for your larger rectangular components. It is not a good fit for smaller components, like game consoles. "The Cooler" works very well with most of your standard size audio-video components.
